OpenPS2Loader - More options and it's still being worked on for improvement. Not to mention, it also has the highest game compatibility when it comes to loading games! :D

It's a toss up between SMB and HDD for quality, for ease of use it's a toss up between SMB and USB.

i recently installed an internal 320gb its a pain to add games, as the only feasible way is to plug the hdd in the pc then xfer the games. if you try over wifi/ethernet, you only get about 1.95 mbps, thats megaBITS per sec. 4gb ~= 30 mins for xfer.

internal pc xfer using ide, 36-50 MB/s.

i don't want to keep my ps2 hooked up to the network, nor do i want to store ps2 isos on my pc. for me the internal hdd is the best, smb may work for you. depends on what you want.

You know, you can use an IDE to USB adapter and transfer the games just as fast to your hdd.

Easily internal HDD. Nothing beats internal HD compatibility wise, except modchips. It also has faster loading times and no need for your ps2 to be hooked to the pc. Simply get a big HDD (you can use an SATA adapter for SATA HDDs) and get all the games you're interested in on it.
With OPL you can also use both methods, so even if your internal HDD is full you can still put new games on your PC and load them from there. Combined you'll have the max compatibility and plenty of storage.

Well with an SATA to IDE adapter you apparently can. I've came across this on different boards and even on the HDD compatibility list site.
My adapter should arrive in a week or two. Then I'll know first hand.
There are even chinese made third party network adapters with sata connectors. These work too but as far as i've read they have some issues like lesser compatibility, glitches and so on.
