Thread: Do PS2 Slims had trouble with overheating since they don't have built-in fan in them?

    Exclamation

Our very first PS2 is the fat one but was broken due to wear and tear of constant use. Then a year ago, we bought a new PS2 but this time a slim one. Noticeably, PS2 Slims do not have built-in fan in them which makes me question its resistance against overheating. Do PS2 Slims experience overheating excluding the external factors of heat?

    [Update]

PS2 slims do have fan built-in in them, it's just not noticeable from the outside. The question now would be how efficient is that fan to keeping the PS2 Slim "cool" including external sources of heat?

The only problem I see with my PS2(slim) is the lens itself. I guess overheating was not an issue to me and my brother because we both played for a long time everyday before. It is still functional today and I usually play it to run homebrew instead of playing with discs.

Do you open a ps2 slim? Inside have thin cooler very powerfull, if the cooler is not working the motehrboard detect overheating and turns off.

Is there a homebrew for PS2 Slim that states whether the PS2 unit is reaching its overheating state? Or at least states what temperature the unit is currently in?

if your really bothered about it overheating then stick it in a PS2 case and add a fan inside it
ime sure you could find a 5v source in there and ground goes without saying

i dont have a ps2 but i may just get a fat and slim and see if i can swap cases with the slim to the fat and add a fan and hhd

It's summer here on our place and I could really say that it's really hot. I don't really play the PS2 unit during the day because of that lol. Aside from overheating, it's just not fun playing while it's hot.
