Thread: Recomend me a game,Need a change of theme's in adventure/rpg/etc. games

i suddenly gotten tired of the common fantasy/dungeons/dark/etc. and big name games.

a few example of games i liked of somewhere near what i am looking for.


Persona 3(i am not fan of anime game, but liked how you get to be in highschool, mall, etc, did not like the dark themed story and dungeon looking the same at every floor.)

Bully(also school, but i loved the neighborhood and the carnival, the town)

Deus Ex(i got hooked to the game, awesome story,i consider this game more of adventure/rpg than shooter)

Psychonauts(the setting was great and i would say unique, especially when each person had his own world depending on the person)

Katamari Damacy(loved this game so much, rolling stuff in a room, city, town,house)

other console with something alike

Earthbound(SNES, loved that it was a rpg about UFO, and you played in Towns/city)

Mario RPG(really felt different than other rpg, funny, the setting like the battle in the church, the cloud city,etc.)

Final fantasy 8(the setting were story took places, was city,Garden which was like College,towns)

I wish i could give better description of what i looking for, but lately i been feeling like i need something different. I don't expect people will immediately will know what i am looking for. But perhaps someone out there feels the same way as i do.

*By the way, what i meant about Big name games, was the too Obvious games, like saying Metal Gear,God of War, Ratchet and clank, Jak and Daxter etc.

Try Disaster Report & Raw Danger! if you're into modern action adventures in an urban setting.

R.O.D. - It's like playing some 80s/early 90s mech anime.
The controls are pretty 'eh', but it's fun.

Mana Khemia was good. Deus Ex Invisable War was also decent. If you like Deus Ex, check out the Kotor series (knights of the old republic). Check out persona 4 for sure, And Nocturn for bright colors, well lit areas, great artwork.

i recently played dokapon kingdom so far i think is really great, cute, lots of colors, and first i thought i was going to play another anime adventure, but when i started playing, i said wait a minute this is a mario party rip off, a little more of playing and thought wow the game is actually pretty addictive, is like a mario party, but you can level up(no mini games) fighting around etc.

I am trying to find cold winter, seems to have a goldeneye, deus ex kind of feeling.

and state of emergency.


And of course will be trying all of your recommendations........... except for dragon ball........would budokai 3 to death, but other dragon ball games did not like, plus tired of fighting games right now.

The .hack games are fun in a slightly annoying (but not enough to stop playing) sort of way.
Destroy All Humans 1+2 are good if you want to laugh at corny jokes and sexual innuendo.

i played destroy all humans 2, was really fun, have not tried the first one.

I have not tried .hack since i see there are so many episodes.
