Now, being an old school (I'm talking I remember the first episode of the first season of MMPR) Power Ranger fan, This game deserved a playthrough. This game was released for the 15th anniversary of the series, and features selectable rangers spanning the series. So, as a mega fan of the rangers, did this game impress? or is it another marketing ploy?
The story starts out as the Omega Ranger (Don't bother, he's not in any series), protecting the hall of legendary rangers when Lord Zedd comes out and threatens the safety of time crystals with his plot to alter time and prevent the rangers ever existing. Omega Ranger in his incredible intellegnce, shattered the crystal into many dimentions. Now, he must collect rangers from all the timelines, to defeat Zedd and put together all the pieces.
Yeah, the story sucks, but what can you do? It's disney and it's not kingdom hearts.
The game has 21 selectable rangers, after you unlock them all, Ranging back from the MMPR days, but that's also kinda of a huge fault. They're still missing some rangers/series that I believe got the shaft. Where's the Green Ranger? How about the White one? And excuse me, but if this spans the 15 years/13 seasons of the rangers, why are there only rangers selectable from 6 of the seasons? So, If you were a fan of Zeo, Turbo, Space, Lightspeed Rescue, Time Force, Dino Thunder Or Mystic Force, you're outta luck.
The gameplay is your standard beat-em-up action game. There should be more to explain here, but it's not. It's your standard platforming/beat-em-up. There's no difference between the rangers, so it really doesn't matter which ranger plays out. The game has 25 stage, 3 for each "timeline". 2 platforming and 1 horrid Megazord battle that plays out like a kiddie god of war. UGH.
Overall, I'd steer clear of this unless you're a HUGE fan who's followed the series, and even then, that's a stretch. Not enough rangers, little difficulty, and no longetivity at all = a pretty terrible game.
