I am using uLaunchElf to run this, tried both off the USB and on MC0 and both times the screen just goes blank.

Does the file need to be renamed or placed in a specific folder?
Or just something else I am not aware of?

I am using FreeMcBoot on a fat ps2 and uLaunchElf to run ELF files in case you need to know.

Do you have a PAL or NTSC TV?

It is an NTSC TV

oh well it's not a huge deal, I do have the swap magic disks and also I am using ESR and HDLoader, I was just trying things out really.

No. If you want to mod without spending money then install an exploit (like FMCB) otherwise you'll have to shell out the money for a modchip or a real copy of swap magic.
