also, I have stuff already on my external hard drive, will this erase the stuff off of it?

If you can disable your modchip yes if not no, you need to wait for 0.7 I don't know release date, I advise you to use usb extreme to format your harddrive before installing games if you have files on it put them somewhere else or whatever
