You can format the HDD on the PS2 with a HDLoader ELF or disc, or on a computer with the program WinHIIP.

well winHIP doesn't work with new hard drives,i should have made my self more clear. Far as i know when you add a new hdd you have to use the network adapter disc. If i'm correct.
WinHIP says " The selcted hard drive does not have a valid PS2 master boot record"

WinHIIP does work with new hard drives. That message just means the HDD isn't formatted to PFS, you have to click on Format Drive after you receive that message. The network adapter disc is for setting up a network configuration save on your memory card, it can't format a HDD.

If the HDD is more than 128 gb use 48 bit, otherwise use 28 bit.

I have a (SCPH-30001 R) with my FreeMcBoot, and my WD 500 GB HDD IDE. (works like a charm).
I got 2 questions:
1 - I tested the SATA adapter and I couldn't load the SATA (several models) on any of the USBLoader, HDD Loader, and OPL, until I try to format to 48bits, then I manage to boot Dark Clouds 2, but I haven't tested other games yet. Does this SATA adapter works fine with all games?
2 - I recieve this other PS2 (SCPH-30001), I can't make the FreeMcBoot to boot on this one. Any ideas why?
Is it posible to have the img off the browser on the SATA HDD version, then I could use the browser to boot OPL from the HDD.
