Thread: PS3 Firmware v4.0 Released

A new system software update (v4.00) will be released this week. In preparation for the launch of PlayStation Vita (PS Vita) in Japan, this update will prepare PlayStation 3 (PS3) to serve as a content management device. It will allow users to copy their digital content such as games, music, photos, and videos between PS Vita and PS3, back up PS Vita game games including save data to your PS3 hard drive, and update the system software for your PS Vita system using the network features of your PS3.

Other changes to take effect with this update include:

PlayStation Plus members can now choose to enable or disable each automatic update feature
Game patches
System software
Recommended games and videos
Sync trophy information
New PlayStation Network settings for filtering friend requests and messages

Damn, that means no CFW. No developer will want to crack an older firmware, they will try to break OFW 4 just for the chalange it poses. I guess it's time to go out and buy Arkham City

Only just getting back in to the scene but I thought once 3.6+ was cracked the ps3 was wide open again meaning if some dev has got the keys we all would love to have then the vita keys would not be safe or has sony still got the upper hand in regard to hiding keys?

well as I told all of you before, forgot about playing online with cfw, because as soon as we got the new cfw sony will take a stand and release new fw with new keys, you can see the result not

but the good news is that we are too close for new cfw 3.73

Time to play CAT and MOUSE again! start the CHASE.....

PS3 FW 4.0 XMB Changes

Privacy Settings added to Playstation Network/Account Management. (select who you will receive Friend requests and messages from)
Playstation Plus shortcut added to Playstation Network column.
PS Vita System added to Settings/Remote Play Settings/Register Device.
PS Vita System Application Utility (Assuming this deletes things similar to PS3 Game Data on PS Vita) = Game
Delete PS Vita System's Backup Files (Deletes backup files for PS Vita system saved on this system) = Settings/System Settings
