Basically what you need to do is

1. Buy any cheap electronics (blu ray discs, ideally) and pray for a chance to get a $100 Giftcard coupon when you purchase a PS3 console on your receipt.

2. Take your receipt and go buy a Slim PS3 and redeem your coupon and you should also get a $60 giftcard from buying a slim console.

3. $$Profit$$

Granted, you still need to pay the $300+ tax upfront, but you get $160 back in giftcards, which is great for anyone that usually shops at target anyways.

Another thing to consider is that the $100 GF coupon doenst always print, so you might have to try buying BDs a few times to get your coupon.

No, they absolutely do NOT come pre-loaded with 3.42!! I bought my 120gb brand new in february and it had 3.50 installed.

Really? from target, 120GBs model? My friend just bought one and told me it had 3.42, he has no reason to lie hes not on cfw. But I guess it depends on the store and how long theve had the systems laying around! Point in case its <3.55 (hint hint)

and yeah, very nice deal, wish I could take advantage of it myself, my fattie needs replacement, looks like its on its last leg.

Yup...as far as I've heard, the only ps3's that have 3.60 pre-installed are either used from a game store (like gamestop) or bundled with killzone 3

You guys must have gotten lucky and found stores that don't sell many consoles....ps3 is extremely popular around here...and when I got mine it was immediately following the release of CFW 3.55, so PS3 was an extremely hot item at the time, because everyone knew it was moddable
