I was stumbling around this morning when I came across this http://pastie.org/private/97oth9v5tspkiztwwdmngaIt is a copy of a chat room log from FEBRUARY that has several "hackers" talking about PSN exploits. It is a little it of an eye opener. People were bouncing around on PSN servers "gathering information" MONTHS ago.

As I thought, because of the custom firmware, more areas of the ps3 open up and they found a way that Sony gets your info and it seems someone or some people figured something from the Sony server to get all the passwords and info from people ans use for their gain.

Thats insane. Such poor regard of our sensitive data is inexcusable. I used to have cfw on my ps3, kmeaw. When the dns server was hit on 3.56, i updated. On ofw 3.56, i bought all the blockbuster titles, killzone3, crysis2, ect. Spent well over $100 on psn buying games and dlc. Became what sony would call a "legitimate game consumer". Now i realize that all this time im on psn, as a PLUS member no less, that theyve been sending my cc info as an unincripted txt file. Im so fed up with sonys blatant dissregard. Seems to me that sony is more worried about us getting free **** instead of protecting its consumers. Way to go sony, thanks in advance for proving to us its way better to not hack your beloved ps3.

With the same exploit people were using to exploit the certificates to log in to psn, they reworked it and found the backdoor. It is a shame... but genius nonetheless. Just bring these guys OtherOS back and everything will settle down.

Alright guys, yes it started off with the OS, now its to the point that the treating of the customer of doing whatever we want with the product we bought, is that something wrong now, we wouldn't make any discoveries or anything if we can't alter.. we finally was able to grab NTFS support on the PS3 which didn't make sense why i didn't have in the first place since Fat32 is so 90s, anywho, we want to expand the horizon on things we can do with our product, we are trying to get the point out that PS3 it only does everything, we are trying to expand on that.. what is the problem with that. Why is it wrong to have a backup manager and have a copy on an external harddrive when its main purpose is to backup just in case something fails.. its called protection, no sony doesn't like that because they want us to keep on buying something that we already paid for once, i understand that most of us just pirate, and cool, it also has proven to boost up sales from companies releasing their titles early.. but guess what we pirates or whatever also buy stuff. How also with this economy can we keep on titles when we have no jobs to support it. The prices for games have been ridiculous, heights, i remember buying a brand new Playstation 1 game for $20 at toy r us.. and holy crap that store is a rip off... but yes if we as a consumer/pirater/hacker, can come together and not be considered criminals i think we will be better off, yes sony im still needing an HD tv i might either grab a sony,LG or a vizo.. depends what is better and the size at the time..and ill still buy games, the ones that i want to buy not the crap that you charge for $65, and can be the worst title ever, thats just garbage and a waste of money sorry i would love to test and see if i like it instead of your PSN plus members can test out all these games for also a price. Games are for enjoyment, to play with friends and all of that, its finally came to the point that it become a war with who has the better brains on a video games. Take geohot, he believed it wasn't fair on what sony took from us, and hes right take care of the consumer needs on what they want instead of just rolling in cash because you have it because "Karma is gonna bite you in the ***" this proves right now on all the **** that has been happening karma is going after sony right now.. and Karma is a *****!

This may just me, but I don't see us getting back on PSN with a CFW anytime soon.

This stuff here is just...-sigh- Couldn't just stop while we were ahead, then some jackasses went and ruined it for everybody.

This was always going to happen......You can't blame cfw's and anyone who does is just falling into line with how Sony want you to think......

Before we go blindly throwing the blame on Devs who gave us all what we wanted in the form of cfw's and back-up managers lets remember this.......

Sony removed the O/S option because they said it posed a " SECURITY THREAT ", so they were well aware for some time that this could be done...Now rather than fix the threat properly they took the arrogant root, they believed their only weakness was the O/S option, and if removed the PS3 was as tight as a drum so to speak.....and that is all they did....they removed the O/S option and thought they was safe......

I for one will always believe that Sony knew they were in trouble the second the news hit the net that the PS3 was hacked, hence the over the top re-action to the whole cfw hack.....if they just thought this posed a threat to online gaming etc then they would have done what MS do....Ban hacked consoles....

No they knew......they knew they had to try and stop this before somebody did exactly what is happening now.......that's why a certain hacker working on returning the O/S has been warned off twice so far.....

They knew all along their security was weak, they are now trying to blame cfw and the Devs who release them and people are are falling for their propaganda...

People please stop.....This is Sony's fault all the way....Even if and it's a big if, a cfw is being used it is still Sony's and only Sony's fault your info was not kept secure......

Xbox360 has been hacked for years, your info with them is still safe !!!!!
