Default 3D gaming and digital distribution

It seems the latest 3D technology is really taking off. With a host of feature films, IMAX movies, and new TVs that support 3D, it only feels inevitable that video games will also eventually embrace the 3D craze. There are already games that support 3D, but in a recent presentation by Sony, the company says it plans to upgrade PlayStation 3 consoles with full 3D support.

Sony plans to upgrade consoles to support 3D, as reported by Kotaku, and the company will also release games in 3D to take advantage of this new technology. Keep in mind; 3D gaming will require 3D televisions, which are currently priced rather high.

The 3D upgrade is in line with Sony?s plans at profitability. According to the Washington Post, Sony plans to be profitable by March of 2013. Its plan is not only to be profitable, but to also operate at a five perfect margin. Sony?s original plan was to be profitable by March of 2008, but the breakdown in the economy likely kept that from being a reality.

Sony also plans on the gaming division gaining profitability in March of 2011, likely through digital distribution. In regards to digital distribution, there were some hints today that Sony may soon start charging for online PlayStation Network gameplay, as reported by VG247.

?SCE will further increase sales by offering users new entertainment through the combination of hardware, software, peripheral and PlayStation Network,? said the SCE boss Kaz Hirai.

?Especially in the online area, we are studying the possibility of introducing a subscription model, offering premium content and services, in addition to the current free services.?

The idea appears to keep the PSN free, but to add a layer of premium subscription based content. You can see more of Sony?s presentation here.

I see Sony loosing billions on this mistake.
I don't know about you but I'm not going to waste $1600.00 or more just so my games look pretty.

I think that its not worth it.
    First you need expensive 3dhdtv.
    second hdmi 1.4 support
    third actrive or passive glasses
And the last after you spend so many on all this
I think that using 3d is dangerous for health,i read article where doctors say that its dangerous for eyes and brain.
So i think that the best thing is to use 2D display.
