so I think if you have other homebrews they will detect that you're cfw anyway... at least there's a smaller chance of being banned.
Thanks for answering, I guess that for those who have many homebrew apps installed,
and don't play online, it won't make much sense to install the stealth version than...

That is true, but on the other side, let's be honest and since this is not a forum for hypocrites like emutalk or something like that... this is goddamit PS3ISO so most of us plain old have CFW for... the Gamezzzzzz....
I know some people get genuinely excited about homebrew apps like "my lil rotating cube 3d" and "NES emulator 0.1 alpha" but that's really... quite a minority.
I never played online before (anything at all) and don't even have a PSN account but maybe soon I'll grow a pair and get online and I appreciate Deank's work to make things as "clean" as possible for the prying eyes of Mr. Hirai, Tretto and associates.
Hey and this is of course just me "pouring my heart out in the rain", not a statement against you, Bruno

And what about app_home folder ? Cannot be removed and its a 100% sure way to discover a CFW...

No worries
But I already can play online (very few games) and have a psn account (created recently after
updating to 4.30cfw), which I couldn't even access from my ps3 untill about a week ago, that
without stealth multiman. The first time I tried to play BO2 online I got the same server error many
people here do, and my ps3 never went online before, except for updating games. Many other new
games need passphrases or key codes to play online wich need to be paid in order to work (unless
I'm missing something here), and most old games are not even played online anymore, still I never
got my account suspended or permanently banned...
So my questions are:
- PSN dlc's and package (pkg), cracked, games won't be detected has homebrew?
- The only thing that can be considered has homebrew are the apps / games installed
on the games tab, or showtime, psn home fixes, etc, are also considered homebrew?
- Very little time ago, I read here on PS3ISO that only online cheating or
playing a game online before it's release date (this last one is pretty
obvious
) would get you banned so, now sony knows if you're using
cfw and will ban you as well?
- In case you want to go back to "normal" / non-stealth multiMAN, all
that's necessary is to install the "normal" version, or there's no way back?
Probably these questions don't make much sense for those who play ps3 games online
all the time, but that's not my case, I'm quite new to this ps3 online gaming thing...

To my knowledge, the stealth multiMan is not intended to stealth your CFW but merely the app itself.
To my knowledge CFW is detectable but the question is, what do we want Sony to see and what do we not want them to see?
There is a difference between showing your using a backup manager which could most likely be used for piracy compared to you playing a tetris homebrew.
Sony would be more concerned with the former and not really with the latter.
Those of us that use PSN and I'm certain of this, would rather hide the use of multiMan even if Sony is detecting the CFW itself.

Thanks for answering. I belive that as long as Sony is able to detect if a psn user has cfw installed
instead of ofw, there's allways the possibility of things going wrong. Because no one installs cfw just
to use homebrews, the first reason for cfw is always to play ps3 games and they sure know that

I honestly think Sony isn't concerned with CFW. This is something that is of no profit value to them and isn't what they are calling illegal software. I believe their mention of illegal software pertains to more content such as PSN games which they can easily see your account has not purchased the game yet tons of people are playing those games online.
This is probably what they're talking about when mentioning illegal software.
It still baffles me why Sony still has not come up with a way to prevent illegal downloading of PSN games in a similar way they locked out downloading games from the dev network.

There are a people whom use CFW for legitimate purposes.
For homebrews, emulators, backward compatibility, linux etc...
Of course there is a possibility of things going wrong but logically the chances are reduced.

maybe they want us cfw users to keep track on the franchises in the industry and stay connected to sony s library... maybe the hacking scene is part of their marketing long term strategy !
some things sony hated from the scene like the big psn anonymous hack, even tough i ve read it in every press blog website newspaper, in sum as long as one have a ps3 sony is happy, software money goes to software producer. and yet their s the only one that s fighting hackers very strongly
