sounds cool, but wont that eliminate cracked psn titles, homebrew and psp playback? unless, of course, it is compatible with their cobra dongle, but that would be too many peripherals for my taste
Team Cobra is entering the PS3 Optical Drive Emulator market
Ps3Crunch: We got exclusive tip from developers behind Cobra that they will be producing a ODE for Sony Playstation 3 consoles
We all heard of the upcoming '3k3y' device, but now the market for installing an ODE in the PS3 scene world is heating up as the world's famous Team Cobra behind the Cobra-USB dongle is now going to be producing an Cobra-ODE for playing all your backup PS3 Blu-Ray Game Disc Images directly from any HDD without the need to have your PS3 console on 'custom firmware', which they claim will be 'most advanced PS3 Optical Drive Emulator' ever.
No more infomation is available at the moment, except what is on their official websites, but stay tuned as we bring you more exclusive news!

Exactly.
Isn't this kind of pointless now that cfw can be made for any new firmware update.
Also if your smart, you can have psn access and not get banned from any game servers.
I don't see the point of this really, unless it works for those who are unable to run any cfw on their ps3. i.e: new consoles
It might be pointless to alot of you, but for some of us that updated for the hell of it.. it is useful, saves us from the hassle of having to spend money on downgrading hardware's, setting up and blah blah.... this would probably be plug n play kinda of thing. Btw ive been out of the scene for a while since i updated so if its now possible for me to install cfw in anyway pls feel free to let me know![]()

Ain't gonna be just plug and play. You will have to disassemble your console.
Dongles are dead. Their previous dongle proved how unfunctional most ps2 games ran on the ps3 system. They would either crash, have frame rate issues and other kinds of bugs, etc.
