Angry No discounted UMD transfers to Vita for US

Hey, America ... no soup for you! Vita apparently means no discounted downloads of your beloved disc-based PSP games as Kotaku reports Sony won't be offering its "UMD Passport" service in the US. Since December, Sony has let existing Japanese PSP owners upgrade UMD games to Vita downloadable copies for around ¥500-1,000 ($6.50 - $13). Penny-pinching US gamers can perhaps console themselves with the fact that they can still get a discount for digital downloads of Vita games. Well, that or make hungry eyes for free at Vitas displayed in kiosks at select stores.

Yet another reason to wait for the Vita to have a price drop instead of buying it up the moment it's released. Maybe by then Sony might, possibly, maybe have enough time to pull their collective heads out of their collective asses. Oh who am I kidding...

Well, no one's been talking about it, but there is a little problem, Japanese Localized games on psn, how are the people going to play them? Sony said that every user will have only one psn (sen) account on psvita, and half of the good games on psp was released only in japan.

Of course many of us will use it hacked, but is it going to cause any trouble on playing japanese pkgs? And are pkg files easy to edit, because I think there will be many translations of Japanese Games.

Exactly......who cares. I'm not spending $250 on a Vita to play PSP games. Just wait......it will be hacked soon (already close) anyway. Spend $50 on a used PSP if you want to play your UMDs. Cheaper in the long run anyway.

I was actually planning on just buying one and playing the all games I want, why would I spend money on both, while vita can play psp titles? And if it can't, it doesn't seem much worthy, launch titles were a huge disappointment if you ask me.

And someone still wants Vita? No, well, a japanese Vita is fine, but I still won't buy it in the near future, since NO GAEMS is awful.

I am guessing that most people who have UMDs also have a PSP.......seems reasonable to me anyway. It's new tech, not just a screen size update or different design.
