Thread: Insomniac Won't Make Any More Resistance Games

After three Resistance titles, Insomniac boss Ted Price has announced that the developer will no longer be making Resistance games.

The franchise originally debuted on the Playstation 3 as a launch title as "Resistance: Fall of Man". It was then followed by two sequels and a spin off for the PSP. Recently, a new Resistance game, Resistance: Burning Skies, has been announced for the Playstation Vita under the development of Nihilistic Software.

"We've done Resistance 3 and we're really into it and proud of it, but we're not currently slated to do a Resistance 4. So it would be hard to say it's any kind of lynchpin within Insomniac. I think we're thriving and branching out in a lot of different directions," Price said on the future of Insomniac.

On the future of the franchise, he added, "We've got a lot of different places for the universe to go, so I could certainly see the series going to another developer. I'm sure Sony would want to find a high caliber developer to do a good offering. I don't think they'd hand the franchise over to somebody who is going to screw it up."

Insomniac has also taken a similar step with their first major franchise, Spyro the Dragon, developing three games in the series before passing the torch to various other developers and publishers.

Recently Insomniac announced Overstrike, their first multiplatform game as well as their first non-Playstation exclusive game ever.

Good news, if the next title isn't another fps.

I hope it means they are refocusing their attention on the core games they have...like spyro and ratchet

On topic: I'd love to see Resistance 4, but I'm hoping it's released in conjunction with PS4, whenever the phuck that is....

I hope their next game is as good as all their previous efforts.
they have always been good at creating things from nothing and handing it off to someone who just coasts for the rest of them.
