Default System freezing with new CPU

I've got an HP dv2000 series laptop with a Wistron 30B2 mb with SLIC modded bios, Core Duo T2050, & a single 2GB stick of DDR2 running at 5-5-5-15 332.5MHz, & Intel i945GM integrated graphics. Currently running W7Ult 32-bit, with all updates. NO issues. Stress test it? All issues check out.

If I drop in a C2D T5500 chip, Windows cannot boot. Safe mode boots fine, but booting normally has the system completely freeze right before the desktop loads. The LCD displays patterns like video RAM corruption (red lines, alternating black bars). Hard reboot is the only way out. Multiple passes stress testing the CPU, which has been sold with this exact MB by another manufacturer, passes. The only way that W7 can boot normally is if I remove the graphics drivers. The next boot will have just the generic 800 x 600 VGA driver running. Windows will then update the graphics driver, and ask to restart the PC. That boot will be its only successful one. If I reboot after the driver is installed, Windows will freeze at the desktop again, and the only way to get back in is to remove the installed driver in safe mode, reboot, and let Windows install the exact same driver that I just removed. I've tried installing old Intel drivers from 2007, but nothing changes. The system still freezes if there is a graphics driver in place.

I thought it may be the graphics chip dying, but stress testing it with the T5500 in passes. There are NO issues with the T2050. All hardware checks out. Memory tests all pass. HD SMART reports are all within tolerance levels. Stress testing the parts never has the temps above 70C.

I can't think of anything which could trigger this behavior. If I wipe the partition and try to install Windows on it, the exact same freeze will occur when the installer tries to update the chipset drivers.

Does anyone have any idea? I think that maybe the issue could be the single stick of DDR2, instead of 2 1GB sticks. 2 1GB sticks of DDR2 should run at 667MHz, instead of the single 2GB running at 332.5MHz.

its a problem from hp,they srewd up with the dv2000 from to dv9000 series, they should designed with 2 coolers to support the heat of the cpu and the videocard or chipset, now u should see this video for help but do not try it yourself if u have no idea what to do.

but even if u can do this it will fix it max for only 2 or 3 months, and it will do the same.
    Recommended buy a dell notebook!

I appreciate your post, but it covers a completely different problem. Doing the penny fix on a dv2000/dv6000 laptop is done if the solder joints beneath the GPU break, which kills the video output. Re-read my post.
