    Default Slow internet on Centurylink

Before I leave on vacation, I wanted to ask who has slow internet on century link. My family bought a package for 10mb and I am getting 1.2mb max on my downloads. And 300k on my upload when it should be 700k.

I took a speed test and here is what I get.

I have no home security that interferes with the wires. So I am not sure what to do. I think I am being robbed. I was thinking it was my firewall but I am not sure. It is Avast internet security.

check the connected devices section of the router settings to see if someone is connected to your wifi without you knowing.(or ethernet it they're really sneaky)
try putting your computer in a DMZ
also download inside of an ssl tunnel (I think that's what it's called but I might be confused) as your internet company may be throttling you.

no. no one is accessing it. I check when I go to the router address of connected devices. I should try dmz then.

though a MB is eight times the size of a Mb. and obviously they are going to quote the bigger number.

I have no loss of packets and used a TCP optimizer which let firefox load faster but still the same speed. Im not sure if it is a direct problem with router when I go to the router address.

I'm pretty sure it's just that the speed is 10mb which is 1.25MB
I think that's the problem here.
