    Default Internet Speed

    Hi guys,

I don't if it is my internet provider but since 1 month my download speed is at the most 600 kbs ( before 2-3 mb/s ). When I try those speed testing sites, I get 2.3 mb/s of downloading speed but when using utorrent or jdownloader, I only get 600 kb/s at most.

Ps utorrent says that I'm not connectable. I live in a big building and we all get an automatic ip adress from the provider. There are switches on each floor and the routers are downstairs. Any idea on what I can do ? Thanks

Telling people your city and ISP might help with a few answers. Just a shot in the dark but a few ISP do throttle most torrent data/ports. As far as Jdownloader It depends on the site, and how popular the game is, if the server that the game is stored in is getting a high increase in downloads they may need to regulate the download speed so everyone has a chance to download the file.

Well, the speed you are seeing when you do that speed test is in Megabits. When you download a file it shows your speed in Megabytes. In order to convert bits to bytes you divide the number of bits by 9. So divide 2300 by nine and you get 255. In other words, you are getting a better speed than you should be.

The provider is Destiny, in Brussels. I tried multiple downloads and the total of the download speed is max 600 kb/s. Before I was getting a total of 2-3 mb/s. They limited our internet speed

Thx for the help. I just checked the router ( cisco catalyst 2960 SI series and there's another router or something, also a cisco 3725 ). Guess the only way is to change the ISP
