    Default Computer not booting up

Okay so i was on skype and also trying to reformat my external harddrive and as soon as the application popped up, it froze my computer i didn't get to do anything, as to formatting to anything, so i manually pushed the button in the front to turn it off, i turn it back on again and start up.. showing that im using an emachine telling me Delete=setup and all that jazz.. and then when it goes off that screen it goes straight to a black screen.. with a underscore line on the top left corner and it stays there forever. I left the computer one for since 7pm last night till which is now 12:54PM, the next day. I thought that it was doing some defragmenting or something like that to the computer but there isn't any progress bar or anything just that underscore with a black screen.

    Help!

Shut it down the reboot the system then start pressing F8 on keyboard to get system menu, use option "last known configuration" to start. If that doesnt work, redo these steps and then choose "safe mode" and try a system restore

I need friends, I have a bag full of rupees!

You will probably not get to the safe mode boot. You either have a corrupted system file or your MBR (Master Boot Record) is toasted.
Either way, it can be fixed, either through the recovery console or via a REPAIR install, depending on what is wrong and what OS you're using.
I am a computer tech and this is right up my alley, so let me know if you want any help with this.
