*Black Screen, Vista won't boot/do anything! - White Cursor.... ?
Hey guys, basically. I'm having some serious issues with my laptop. It is running Windows Vista Home Premium.
Laptop model: Acer Aspire 5633WLMi
When I switch it on, windows will not boot at all.
After reading on another sites, suggestions such as loading in safe mode, will not work.
Ctrl + Alt + Del won't work either to use task manager. It merely resets and does the black screen/white cursor thing.
And lastly, i've tried making a recovery disk myself.
I use software for burning iso's regularly for games, but with this one, there just seems to be two folders and one file.
- It burns onto a disc though which is strange, but i cannot get it to load.
The only functions that work are f2 (setup utility) and f12 (booting utility).
f8 does nothing but beeps....
Please I need help, not being able to use my laptop is driving me crazy!
Thanks,

I noticed that the other website you posted this on suggested rebuilding the mbr. If that does not work, go in to the bios and set the sata drive from AHCI to ATA.
I run a computer company (not own, just run) and this would be one of the first things we would try.
Also, a little more info could help a lot. Were you updating/restoring/installing something new when the reboot error occurred?
Loading in safe mode and ctl-alt-del will only work if you get the error AFTER the boot process and that is due to a logon permissions issue, which it does not sound likely to be your issue. Your issue is caused by an improperly read boot sector.
Other suggestions: Download (from a different computer) an ERD disk, such as ERD commander. this will allow you to boot into a windows type gui.. from there you can:
1) open a command prompt and do a checkdisk /r on the main drive (c: probably)
2) open the cp and type sfc /scannow (if your system is...uh...enhanced...then you'll have to re-crack it after this, as this replaces any files that don't match original os files)
That should give you a few points to start from (EVERYONE should have an ERD disk anyway) If you still can't get it, don't give up, just post and say you didn't get it and we'll go from there.
