Thread: does anyone here know anything bout laptops??

hey there dudes and dudettes,

i bought me a acer aspire in october 2010, but since new years its been making a high pitched noise comming from near the hdd and fan, when it does the laptop just freezes and its very annoying especially when im copying my games because i dont want to corrupt the files and brick my ps3 i have to flick/tap the bottom of the laptop to make it stop :(

Does anyone on here know whats wrong with it? i hope its i hope its my hdd and not a overheating issue.

by the way i dont really use my laptop on a desk because i dont have one i use it on my lap only recently i found out it is bad for it even know its called a lap-top lol , ive also just ordered a cooling pad from ebay today.

I know that they aren't PS3s so asking for help with them in the PS3 section is quite silly.
Moved to PC help.

kind of sounds like the fan casing has broke and the fan is moving around.have you thought about opening it up and having a look to see what it is if so make sure to use a non magnetic screwdriver

is ur hdd copying/writing speed changes like decrease or something then reply and what other changes appears....also

nah not from what ive noticed.. it only seems to be a problem when its hot im using it now with no problems
