Anything but Norton!!
I personally use NOD32 and have no problems.

it's like the creator of that antivirus'... umbrella. lol
sorry, it just reminds me of resident evil.

CA Security Center is the best imo

If you want lightweight free AV, try the test release of the Microsoft Security Essentials that came out today. It's far better than those other free AV programs (Avira, AVG) that I've tried.
And actually Norton IS good....only the current 2009 versions that is. Releasing how bloated their crap was, they did the new versions from scratch and made a very efficient program. So yeah, they used to suck terribly, but don't let that keep you blinded from the fact they've turned that ship around big time!

Short of a complete reinstall of windows?
If you don't have an antivirus installed you are screwed, if you do have one run the scan, click the repair button and cross your fingers.

Of course they do. You wouldn't believe how easy it is to hit up people for their stuff. They upload something that's in high demand (for instance nod32) and they'll crypt the keygen with trojans that are undetectable or fully undetectable by your AV. As soon as you click on the file, then you are basically screwed. It'll steal all of your stored cookies(passwords) and send it to the person's ftp site in a conveniently packaged html file that is small in size. It'll contain anything from pspiso to your bank details. That's why I'm trying to become a grey hat. That way I can test the files with an online scan and warn others, help you guys clean the viruses, and help you prevent further infection. Also, I can still learn how to hack while doing this. You should also download combofix (Will wipe the virus clean guaranteed), malwarebytes, a new firewall (I use comodo) and a antivirus. Also, the most important thing to remember is to keep your software updated. If you need help, pm me here or on pspiso. I will make a thread within the next week or so that will top abc123pro's though we are cool. Security is a big issue. Once again, ask me if you need any help.

Dude, no offense, but with mcafee installed, you are screwed. That's like the worse possible av you can have.
