Thread: How to Partition a portable HHD

Just wondering If anyone knows how to partition a portable hard drive using windows xp? Thanx in advance!:D

Heres what i found.

1- Insert your portable hard drive into an available USB or Firewire port.
2- Insert your Windows XP setup disc into your computer and reboot your system. If prompted, press a key to boot from the disc.
3 Press "Enter" at the "Welcome to Setup" screen. Press "F8" to accept the Windows XP Licensing Agreement.
4 Bypass a Windows XP repair by pressing "ESC."
5 Select your portable hard drive with the arrow keys. Press "C" to create a new partition. Specify the partition size or simply press "ENTER" to use the entire disk.

Repeat this step for however many partitions you would like to create.

Tip. You can also use the open source program GParted to partition a drive without deleting data.
