intel wireles display question
ok so i bought a new sony vaio laptop with widi or intel wireless display
and i also have a blu-ray rive in my laptop so i figured i could play a blu-ray movie on my laptop and stream it over widi to my tvv but i guess there is something installed to prevent you from doing this ,something to do with piracy
which imo is stupid since it lets you connet it to a tv through hdmi i dont see why this poses any more of a security/piracy risc than connecting it with hdmi
anyway i was wondering if anyone knew how to bypass this

I use ps3 media server and stream blu rays to my ps3 (if you have a ps3...not sure) that way... hope that helps!

yes i have a ps3, but im not sure what you mean by ,you stream blu-ray to your ps3 from where ?a computer?and why? ps3 already has a blu-ray player.why would you stream a blu-ray from your computer to your ps3 when you could just play it directly on you ps3 blu-ray drive, what are you talking about?you need to be more specific ,i have a laptop with intel wireless display ,and a 50"hd tv with a netgear wireless display receiver connected to it with hdmi,to stream my laptops desktop to my tv but it wont let you stream copyrighted material like dvd or blu-ray video to the tv, btw i just got ps3 and have no idea what mediaserver is or what its for

well do you have a hdmi on your pc? and I mean that on my computer I stream the blu ray files to my ps3 cause I dont want to spend or burn (cant burn blu rays) the disks so I have a 80gb hdd so I store them on there make sense?

yes it does i think, so if i put a bluray disc in my computer i can transfer it to my ps3 and save it/install it on the ps3 internal hdd then watch it on the ps3 w/o the disc if so how do you do that ? is that mediaserver program the only thing you need to do it?and will it work on a 3.41fw jb ps3?and yes i have hdmi on my pc/laptop

yea dude Im on 3.5 whatever sadly but its not a jailbreak program... its called ps3 media server Code:
http://ps3mediaserver.blogspot.com/
and me I dl the blu rays since I dont have a blu ray drive but It should work... and I get the mk4 files? I believe thats what it is... anyways so I use the ps3 server and on my ps3 then I go to where the blu ray is saved and copy the file over... like 8gb or whatever
also if you have a hdmi why cant you use that and plug your pc into your tv and watch it from there?

did you try closing your laptop screen by press fnc key and f7?when playing?
and check the output setting ,make it to one source only i.e tv

yes i could use the hdmi to outpeut bluray to the tv but i want to do it wirelessly ,but intel the maker of the wireless display technology designed it so you cant stream dvd or bluray or copywrighted materialover the wireless display even if you have the real bluray dsc in your computer bluray drive or dvd, i havent tried with a dvd image off the hdd but maybe it would work,if that did it would probably work with blueray images like the ones you said you downloaded,i guess it doesnt matter much now cause i think i just found out that the widi only transmits 720p and cant even send full 1080p anyway so thats the best quality i can get anyway. it makes no sense why intel made it like that ,if someone was going to copy a movie they wouldnt need wireless to do it ,plus the laptop i got doesnt have a screen capable of 1080i or p either i just assumed it did when i bought it since it came with a bluray drive ,leave it stupid sony to make a laptop witha bluray drive that cant display bluray quality video ,or transmit wirelessly just outpiut it through hdmi anyway thanks fromage for telling about putting bluray images on ps3 i didnt knw that ,so i assume the bluray images your downloading are 1080p?
