USB Port Malfunction??
I occasionally receive a message on my laptop that one of my three USB ports have malfunctioned. I have connected to them a handful of times and it seems that a system reboot resolves the issues for now. There never seems to be a problem connecting or staying connected and always eject properly Just curious if this may be some suspicious virus activity or simply hardware issues. This is my first laptop and is under a year old with current warranty at Best Buy. Trying to get a better idea of the issue before handing this over to them for who knows how long... It is a Toshiba Satellite 305-S5944 if that helps anyone. Thanx!!

Here is some info I found .
On Toshiba's forums someone suggests

try uninstalling the usb through device manager and rebooting the laptop to let windows reinstall them.
Here are some microsoft articles similar to what you explain.

Thanx for the help! I did an uninstall and reinstall of the ports and it seems to have done the job. As I said this problem has come and gone a couple times and happens very seldomley. At least with the reinstall I know that they still work so Im thinking maybe loose connection or cheap soldering. Im just curious if a virus may have something to do with it. Gotta love Nortons....
