Default Lost Internet Connection Updating Norton Subscription

I recently lost the connection from my modem/router to my desktop using a wired connection. Everything is connected and no settings were changed. I have 2 laptops, a wii, and a ps3 working fine off the wireless connection on the same modem/router. I noticed the problem after updating my norton account with a new purchased version. I did this update to both laptops as well and no troubles with them. I am confused as to why the wireless connection still works and the wired connection doesnt. Any ideas? thanx !:D

Try completely removing Norton from the wired PC and see if that changes anything.
    Or try tweaking Nortons settings.
I had this same problem with the PCs in my office, my tech guy had the smart idea of putting Norton on all of them and then the PCs no longer could connect to each other or the internet, printer, ect.
And no settings change would do anything.
I decided to dump Norton and switch to ESET Smart Security and the problem was no more.

NICE.....That did the trick! Kind of a bummer though. Thinking of using AVG seeing as its freeware but not sure if there is anything better to go with. I'll keep Norton on my lap tops till it expires and then switch. I mainly use my desktop for uploading and burning, just dont want to pay for something else.....DAMN Norton!!

Fro free ones AVG is the best in my experience, but the overall best (IMHO) is Eset/NOD32.

    No problem.
Just F.Y.I., I used to swear by Norton until it started doing more harm to my PC than the viruses would.

Seeing as I already payed for the subscription I tinkered a bit and was able to get things running partially.... I first uninstalled firefox and used IE for internet. Then uninstalled norton using control panel not the option on the install disk. Rebooted, reinstalled and worked no problem. Reinstalled firefox, clicked on add-on and noticed firefox failed to download 2 add-on's for nortons: Toolbar 3.0 and Norton IPS. Also saying that they are not compatible with Firefox 3.6.3. Like I said it is working but not sure if Im protected??
