Default Help!!! "crc failed in ..... File is Broken" error with ANY split rar extension...

    Hi everyone!
Any of you guys get this error when joining multiple parts of a ps2 file and then extracting them?

"crc failed in '[name or game].iso'. File is Broken."

    I use "hjsplit 2.4" and "winrar 3.90".
Initially, I thought it was just that one file that is corrupted... So I tried another game. Again, I get the same error. I tried another one, yet, still the same error. I tried looking EVERYWHERE for a solution but I just can't seem to find one. I tried on different computers, XP and Vista, still the same error. I tried disabling my AVG since some website says that anti viruses can be the cause, still nothing. I am pretty sure that the files do work considering it seems to work for many, except me... Any help would be of greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You're downloading ALL the parts first, right?

Don't use hjsplit... just open the first file with winrar and extract that. There is no need to join them before extracting; that's usually not how the archive was made, and the more variables you add the more chances you have of getting a corrupt file.

If that doesn't work, the files can also get corrupted during download... re-download it and and make sure you don't use a download manager or accelerator.

Yes. All the parts are 100% downloaded. I think I have to use hjsplit first or something like that to join the files since the extension is .rar.001, .rar.002, .rar.003, ect. Winrar does not recognize the ".001", ".002" types of extension. I tried downloading different games too, but it still gives me that "CRC Error" when the extraction reaches 100%. :( Any other suggestions?

when there is .rar.001, .rar.002, .rar.003 you should also get a simple .rar that winrar will be able to open. I have hjsplit, but it's been years since I've had to use it to open a file so I doubt you need it. What are you downloading? Post the links to the threads and I can check it out.

Here's the thread I tried downloading from.

The games I completly downloaded and tried and failed are Grand Turismo 3, and Initial D. The third one was from another thread, not sure which one, but it is still in the same format, giving me the same error...

I downloaded Initial D and I was able to extract it without any problems. It turns out the first post specifies that you have to join them with HJSplit... I apologize for misleading you, but HJSplit is rarely used and I see many people that use it on split 7zip archives for nothing. I downloaded HJSplit form the link in the first post, then joined and extracted with winrar.

My guess is your downloads get corrupted. Do you use a download manager or accelerator? You could also try to re-download HJSplit and Winrar.

For the first 2 downloads, I didn't use anything. Just plain old Internet Explorer browser. The third one I tried downloading using JDownloader, but for all three of them, I still get the same error!!! Could it maybe have to do with internet explorer?

There could be several reasons. One is the file somehow got corrupted while downloading. Second is the file got corrupted while the uploader was uploading it. And the last reason I can think of is that the compression the uploader used is different from the the way you extract the file.
I've experienced this twice before. I just gave up and redownload the game from another source. If you think you're getting nowhere, don't waste more time and just search for a different source.

only played up to 4, so 5th one isn't there yet:p

Yeah I agree, but in this case I was able to download it. Dragongurl880 you'll be able to find other sources for those games on this website. Look for one with an active uploader. If your explorer is up to date it should be ok, although I recommend firefox.
