Thread: arucardo help!!

im trying to fix my roomates pc. its screwed up. i ccleaner'd it. defragged it. now im trying to install zonealarm antivirus. it wont let me configure it. basicly zonealarm is stuck installing. she has windows xp, and the laptop is 5 yrs old. its a piece of crap. what i want to do is actually re-formatt it, and re-install windows xp. i dont have a disk of xp, and i dont know how to re-format the hard drive. now listen... the latest security the pc has, is NORTON INTERNET SEC 2005!!! its full of virus's i think man. i.e not installing antivirus/crap now popping up since i tried. please hook me up w/ a version of windows xp that isnt virus loaded, and safe in everyway. and how do i re-formatt the hdd? i wanna wipe this poop stain of a pc clean!! re-install windows and start from scratch.

Well, first of all Arucardo isn't the only one here who can help you, there are many others.
If you want to reformat your HDD, just right click on drive: c(or whatever your main drive is) and pick "format."

INSTRUCTIONS
- Download all the files into the same folder.
- Use a RAR extracting program (WinRAR)
- Use a program like Nero or Alcohol to burn the ISO onto the CD.

Download and burn it (on a working computer) put this in the CD drive and restart the laptop, when prompted do a full install then when it asks you where to install select your C drive and hit whatever button it is to format it.
Then away you go.
This only has the minimal windos XP drivers so once you are up and running you may need to go online and update your drivers to get all your hardware working.

It's nice to feel wanted and all but there are probably other people here that know more about computers than I do.

skyhawk you can't select "format" on the drive windows is on from inside windows itself, it won't do anything.
You can only do it from a dos prompt while windows is shut down or from an installer disk.

hell ya thanx. so i burn the disk, and put it in and it'll ask me to install it. then everything will be wiped clean and it'll install windows again. wow awesome dude

WAIT what format do i burn the cd under? alcohol is weird like that. i know what a playstation is of course!! you know there's like 30 diff formatts, and no explanation about what they are (cept playstation)

ok it had 2 image files. i used alcohol 120, andi burnt the big one. dont know how to burn to image files on one cd. so i tried to use the cd, and i need thte key. to make it more annoying, my trial vers of alcohol is expired, keygen didnt work i guess. the other back up for alcohol didnt work either. and now when i try to use imageburn it wont detect my cd drive i think. simply annoying.
