    Default Need Help!:Windows Control Series Virus

    My friends laptop got this virus and it disguises itself as an anti-malware/anti-virus despite being a virus itself. It pretends to scan your files and detect trojans and you can't remove it unless you buy the full version or something. I installed malwarebyte anti-malware on safe mode as the virus terminates it if install it normally. When I open the malwarebyte anti-malware it doesn't, I assume the virus is blocking it and other anti-virus from operating. Just need help to remove this crap. Any help would be appreciated.

    note: it also prevents you from using task manager

    Try restoring the system to an earlier date. Or download and run the IObit Uninstaller and see if the forced uninstaller will remove it. Or download the Avira Rescue CD and burn it to a disc and boot the computer with it, or do the same with Hiren's Boot CD and see if the antivirus programs on it will work. Or look up the virus on Google and see if you can find instructions to manually remove it.

    I think deleting its registry should do it but I don't know which files which though.

    Thanks, I fixed it by restoring it to an earlier backup. The fake anti-virus is called windows control series LOL.
