Flashplayer/Linux Help
I just switched to GNOME Backtrack 5 and I'm unable to play YouTube videos, I've already tried several tutorials around the internet on how to install it and still having no luck. I'm still searching around while hopefully I get an answer if anyone knows of a simple method.
Edit: Visited the adobe page to see if the flash verification plays...and it does, but when i try to play a YouTube video it tries to load but than i get confronted with a small bar under the video to choose different sizes, i pick one and still nothing :/

how did you install? I personally prefer synaptic because it downloads everything in a market-like interface and gives you a gui to install, rather than terminal command.
I tried installing with the instructions on adobe's site and it made me want to pull my hair out. IMHO, anything that can be done with a gui rather than terminal command is a major plus

yeah I hate having to install things threw the terminal, um.... if you have Ubuntu Software Center installed search: flashplugin-installer ....... mark it for uninstall i believe if its already installed, than search it again...mark for install and hit apply.
Flash based videos or splash screen are playing in other pages except YouTube.com.. i get a black box, weird.

I'm on BT5 R1 KDE and updated everything except wicd (which I downgraded to 1.5.9 because new ones break connections on me)
through the terminal. I use youtube just fine. Be sure No script is disabled on youtube.

I found out the problem...i was logged on as root user. I had to creat a regular user, now youtube plays. lol
Notice to other members just in case :
Some apps don't run logged in as root also. Example: VLC etc...

Now that I think about it. It probably is because I also do the "DANGEROUS KDE Gui log in as root" config trick.
Something like that..
