Thumbs up Fixed a YLOD 60 Gig and no I am here!

Long story short I got a YLOD in Feb and never got to fixing it. I saw my friends hacked PS3 and it got me motivated! Fixed it in about 2 hours, hacked it next and here I am!

I started with some emulators and roms, backed up brother hood and now I am working on Paintown...having some trouble but this is all new to me.

I am looking forward for the N64 emulator. I still have my dreamcast so I don't need that.

Quick story - I spent about six hours trying to get Deus Ex only to realize it was a game that doesn't work! Had I known there was such games, I would have probably not got so excited and read around more. I plan to buy it Tuesday unless a fix is put out.

So, hi everyone and I look forward to enjoying the ins and outs of my new PS3!

    - Pickle:D

Welcome the site. Deus Ex may not work on 3.55 or 3.41 because the game requires a certain firmware. Well its not out, but we dont know yet. other than that there are tons of games u can download for free.

Lol you are the repair guy you should already know how to repair the ps3. Are you sure you are allowed to have that advertisement in your signature? I am pretty sure it is against the rules, though I am not on these forums very much but I know on xbox360iso you can not have a sign like that. But anyway hopefully the op properly repaired it or he will be complaining in a couple weeks that his jailbroken ps3 has the ylod again and he can't fix it.

Lol you never know how long a YLOD repaired PS3 could last, could be from 1 week to 4 months.

I wouldn't use a previously repaired YLOD console.

1-4 months? If you are only getting 1-4 months out of a ylod repair you are doing something wrong. I offer a 90 day warranty with my repairs and I have only had 2 come back within that time in all of 2011, with over 100 ylod repairs. I can only really keep tabs on the repairs for so long so I am not exactly sure how long they are lasting after I repair them but I repaired my cousins 10-11 months ago and it is still running just fine. He uses it almost everyday as well. And cgcrepairs your services you are really ripping people for a ylod repair. $100 for the ylod repair, unless you are reballing, you are really scamming people. From the look of the pictures on your site it does not look like you can reball, I guess you may be able to but it would definitely not be suggested with that rework setup you have. Also I saw somewhere that says you put a new $90 drive in a ps3, maybe that is why you are ripping people because you are getting ripped on the prices for parts.

I followed a tutorial on youtube - the difference with the one I used and most of the others was the amount of time he spent heating the board. I heated it up for about 6 minutes. I did circular motions the entire time etc and then I let it cool for about 45 minutes. I heard a few cracking sounds but I wasn't alarmed by it. A friend of mine fixed his 60 gig about six months ago and it is still working. My guess is that the reliability of the fix depends on how well you did the reflow action as well as the right amount of thermal paste being used.

I asked what HE used, I personally prefer the ayoue with a t8282 preheater, but the odd's of someone purchasing that kind of equipment to fix a single console is pretty slim, so I was just curious what method he employed.

As far as my sig goes, I just like repping where I work, its not my own personal business, and im just one of the three other tech's employed there, but it's more like my home than a source of income, So I try to throw its name out there wherever its relevant. But i'll change it to something more appropriate.
