I've used a IDE drive as an external USB device with an adapter cable with an AC plug in before and the games didn't really play any better than on a regular USB device. I know that SATA drives will work but I'm not sure if all brands are compatible or if they perform any better. You should get a USB adapter cable or enclosure with both IDE and SATA connections and test them both out.

i can't believe no 1 is posting the dimensions of the internal hd. it's like a curse that needs broken. how is it that not 1 person can mention if it's a 1.5", 2.5", or 3.5"? am i the only 1 that knows those #s? it's a mystery.. the other thing that bothers me is i've asked & asked, yet no 1 has replied. is it going to hurt some1 to give that info. all u have to do is push a #, a ., & a # {3 key strokes}, & u can be like a hero so i can finally buy the necessary hd. now, let's see if u can brk the curse ...
