Thread: Couple of questions - new here =)

Hi, i'm new to the PS2 "backup" scene and I just thought i'd ask some question here to give me peace of mind before buying the things I need to play "backup" games :D

Ok my questions are!

1. What is the best method to play "backup" games? I was looking at swapmagic + slimtools, would that be good? (I have a ps2 slim model scph-79003)

2. Related to question 1. What's a trusted online seller for the items? I'm in the UK btw.

3. Would these discs be ok to burn with?

4. How long does it usually take to burn a disc? Let's say the game is 4gb :D

5. Does it matter what region the games are from on here? For example, if i downloaded an NTSC game, would it still work on my PAL PS2 with swapmagic?

6. (stupid but you never know) Does it matter what colour the PS2 console is? I've seen on some website saying "slims tools for white ps2 slim/silver".

1)yea..sm is a good method but instead you can use freemcboot - Free McBoot Home
using mcboot you can boot games from a hd and also boot up burned backups...

5)there is an Ntsc pal converter

6)i think silver slim is a jap version ps2 but im not sure...see behind the ps2 for more infor

DVD+R is harder on the lens then -R (sony brand allways work for me, but theres a big discussion of diff. brands of media)
PAL will work on your NTSC-U console, but will output EU tvformat. so the converter is for your tv, not the console.
it doesnt matter what color your console is.

ook...i just knew the silver slims were jap ones.....but never knew that there was an american silver released....

So about this FREEMCBOOT thing, I saw the guide where you can use 007 agent under fire and swap it for the burnt one, etc etc. Does this work on PS2 slim and if so, do i need to block the sensors for this to work?

yea u need to block them as to keep the lid open
