It works with many games... you can find a tutorial and a list of games people used here under Installation/PS2 Game Swap Trick. If you have original games you can try with those as well by changing the disc before it starts loading again.

kk one question, I got the FAT version how do I do the swap trick? The only thing I did was replace the DVD drive, other that that is factory....

You can use the Knife/Card Swap trick
Other than that Youtube is littered with video tutorials on the various swap tricks.

if I open up the PS2 and remove the top of the DVD drivre...will this work? - trhx a lot Doc! :D

Yes it will work and on the plus side after you install Free MCBoot You'll never have to do the swap trick again.
