Thread: Sweden recognises new file-sharing religion Kopimism

A "church" whose central tenet is the right to file-share has been formally recognised by the Swedish government.

The Church of Kopimism claims that "kopyacting" - sharing information through copying - is akin to a religious service.

The "spiritual leader" of the church said recognition was a "large step".

But others were less enthusiastic and said the church would do little to halt the global crackdown on piracy.

I think that more people will have the courage to step out as Kopimists. Maybe not in the public, but at least to their close ones. There’s still a legal stigma around copying for many. A lot of people still worry about going to jail when copying and remixing. I hope in the name of Kopimi that this will change.

they will though. you can't create laws which go against religion.
for example halal meat needs to come from an animal which was fully conscious when it was killed. almost every country forbids this because it causes needless suffering.

muslims slit the necks of animals to ensure that the blood goes out of the animals body completley as leaving the blood in the animal could lead to disease, and other side effects, alot of muslim rituals have some good reasons behind why they do it, just need to be open minded (:
