    I just used the generic term "ISO" I know the DS uses the .nds format but I'm not sure at all what format the 3DS uses.

    out of the box? heck no... but hell, still i would buy and go legit for a while, hell i may even import the JP release if sony stays region free.

    it might be. depending on how late you buy it.
    thought I'm guessing they will have the region free games again. (except for when forced by publishers)
