Final Fantasy XIII-2 fits on one Xbox disc

The Xbox 360 version of Final Fantasy XIII-2 will fit onto a single DVD, Square Enix has confirmed.

Last year's Final Fantasy XIII had to be spread out over three DVDs - making it one of the biggest games on the console. News of the semi-sequel's single-discs size might immediately ring alarm bells in those who fear a drastically smaller game, but that's not the case.

Director Motomu Toriyama has told Japan's Famitsu magazine that the reduced data consumption is thanks to the lack of super high-detail CGI event scenes, which the team have this time opted to render in real-time.

The game itself, he insists, actually boasts the same 'volume' as FFXIII.

There's another benefit to real-time cutscenes - they will reflect visual changes in your characters' armour and equipment. Sweet.

Square Enix announced worldwide release dates for Final Fantasy XIII-2 at TGS last week. The game will debut in Japan on December 15, with the regular version set to cost 7,980 yen (£66), ahead of a January 31 US launch and a February 3 European one. Head through the link for more details.

Im not one to know about CGI event scnes and Real time scenes, But will the visuals(graphics) of those cutscenes still be just as good or does this mean that it won't look as amazing?

At first I thought "oh not again, graphics have to be reduced to fit Xbox inferior game sizes..." then again, Real time cutscenes are better IMHO. BUT! Nthn beat CG, especially Square Enix's infamous cinematics. From the trailers/gameplay it already looks amazing, so no complaints there lol.

Guess we'll have to wait and see!
