preference on your part does not mean that they lack quality.
though the majority of music would be boring if it was selected on ability and effort of the musician alone. think 30 seconds to mars drum solos and electric violin playing.
lets not forget death metal and post glam speed funk.

Music is an art form. All art forms expand and grow based on the audiences tastes and opinions. Which is why there are so many genres of music available now. He can believe that a certain singer lacks quality. Someone else can believe a singer he hates is the greatest ever. Neither are wrong. Preferences are the only deciding factor in what makes good music.

I actually like Katy Perry. Firework is one of my favorite songs! :D

LIL WAYNE!!!!!!! He should be ranked as the worst of them all how was he left out of this topic?

Music can only be judged against it's genre. Also while just because somebody hates a band doesn't make a band bad, just because somebody likes a band doesn't make the band good either. For that matter someone may enjoy chowing down on cow dung. That doesn't make it gourmet.

There hasn't been a good singer (or band) in at least several years.
Is it just me or does it seem that the music scene has been taken over by R&B and Rap lately?
