Thread: IPHONE 4 @ 3g jailbreak unlocking?

Hi all just wondered if any of you guys here have any dealings with the methods used for unlocking/jailbreaking iphones ?
my brothers just been given an iphone 3g and wants to unlock it to another network, ive been offerd an iphone 4 cheap (ie lost-insurance job) whats the chances of it being locked and being able to unlock it ect ...
thought it was time i went to a touch phone any input would be great on this thanks in advance rep waiting .......

It depends on the Baseband it has (in both cases).
Some iPhones are unlockable with jailbreak if the baseband is suported by ultrasn0w (an unlocking app available on Cydia).

If not, you may need to buy a something to hard mod it (most popularly, Gevey).

baseband is modern firmware correct me if im wrong
iphone4 16gb firmware 04.10.01 version 4.3.4(8k2)
not sure about the 3g yet il have a look some 2moro sumtime +rep to you sir for your time

iPhone 4 with baseband 4.10.01 forcefully requires hardmod. Like Gevey.

Dunno if they are planning on releasing an ultrasn0w compatible with that baseband.

looking into this iphone 4 i can still jailbreak it cant i ??? just to unlock service providers id have to use the sim hack am i correct? i found a tutorial for this using redsnow which is a tethered jailbreak i understand but it has a quick option to reboot into jailbreak which id be ok with
