I don't know what you guys are argueing about but I'll give my take of it.

    Flashed 360
Takes about 1 Hour to mod, getting the case open takes the longest, flashing the firmware takes a little knowledge but the end result is a 360 that can play online, 100% ban proof at the moment if you do it correctly. You can play any game but it requires the burning of discs

    Jtag 360
Takes a professional to mod, might cost about $50 more for a pre jtagged set up vs a new system and there are no online cabibliities. This is great for playing games with a Hard drive, this is also the only system that will allow you to add DLC to games and all the marketplace games are availble to download and add. It does take knowledge to get to know how to use it for its full potential

    CFW PS3
I modded mine and it took less the 5 minutes to do. Its not completely safe to use online however it is possible, you can play any game you'd like off a hard drive and most PSN games are available to use. You cannot however access DLC at the moment, if you own it already that is fine however if you were looking do download some they are currently locked. This system isn't as complete as the other two however it has great potential for the future.

Everything depends on your taste in games, the xbox will be far cheaper then the ps3 system, I suggest if you a newbie to buy a white 360 system and a ps3 and mod them both. If you don't care for online I would suggest buying a pre jtagged system then. Good luck.

Each option before be costs around the same:
    250USD (for the system)
    +
17USD (for a GS card that has a 'buy 2 get 1 free' voucher, points system, & 20% off used games)
    +
    Free 1 month warranty

If I get a 360 it breaks down like this:
    250GB Elite (the never models)
    1 controller
    All connections
    Have to pay for online

If I get a PS3 it breaks down like this:
    80GB - 2USB - non-backwards compatible (which I don't care about anyways)
    1 controller
    All connections
Don't have to pay for online

While I'd consider myself one hell of a Sony fan, for me it breaks down to funds.
From what I understand the 360 is fairly easy to mod while the PS3 - isn't.

For any of you 360 owners I have a question:
If I can mod my Wii/PS2/PSP with tutorials do you think I can mod a 360?

    Anyways, thanks for any info.
just buy a ps3 and install a custom firmware and play downloaded games!also the ps3 can play blurays and detect media servers.IMO its the system to go with...

i mod systems for extra cash in my are and i have to say my 2 cents here. i think both systems are great and the ps3 is more simple to do then the xbox 360 it can literly be done and ready to play backup in 5 minutes if its on 3.55 where as the xbox take 20-30 minutes(inless you have the b***h liteon drive then it takes about 2 hrs doing the mra hack)but to weigh the the other hand on the subject for 360 its simple dl the game, extract it, stealth patch with abgx 360 and then burn with imgburn and your done.....ps3 on the other hand has some cons. sometimes games freeze and wont load.....a lot have to be ftpd to the internal some games are 40gb and takes days to download just to find it doesnt work.....then theres the b/s sony is trying to pull i dont even have my internet plugged into my router when i ftp because i dont want to risk my ps3 going online just to have some spyware sneak in from sony ps3 also needs a fat 32 formatted external hdd to store games and most modern windows system wont format in fat 32 without a third party application.......but sony has some great exclusive games and great graphics on hdtv plus bluray playback and 100% free online gaming but what good is that if you j/b it....and the microsoft network makes you pay for gold membership but there is always a risk of getting band its all about what you want to do really i cant say one system is better then the other in my opinion they are both fun and easy but i feel to actually get your games and get them going 360 is the easiest the only downside is you have to keep buying dl dvds other then that its great hope i helped
