Or, you could test it yourself and find out for yourself if it works.

i did try to test it myself but im new to the whole FMCB thing, and im using a pal slim ps2 trying to get this ntsc cd to dvd conversion to work and its just not workin for me and i cant figure out why (slim pal ps2 70004, latest fmcb/esr beta..iso patched with esr patcher 0.24a, dvd+r media, burned slowly). if anyone has ever heard of anyone playing crazy taxi on a dvd instead of cd, id be grateful to know how/what they are using to patch/get it to run

I can tell you one thing for sure, I've tried to convert every version of Crazy Taxi available on the internet without success.
I am not going to waste any more disks on it, I am perfectly happy to play the game from USB.

ok thanks for that, ive wasted a lot of time on it too (and disks.. sigh)

if i do find out some way of it workin on dvd i promise to let u know

ps. i thought i read someone say about it running slow on usb... is that nonsense then and it runs smooth/fine? if so maybe i will try it on usb also (ps. i thought it uses LBA addressing, ie. it looks for the files at certain locations on the cd hence making it not work on a dvd or other media (so im wonderin how the hell it works off usb

Some games (like Crazy Taxi) run perfectly fine on USB, most CD based games do.
It's usually games that are heavy with FMV sequences (Xenosaga is a perfect example) tend to run slow, some games run so slow that they are unplayable.

i wonder if psx games can be run off usb also, as there's a couple of games (raiden project, and buster bros. (pang)) which i just cant seem to get to work using swap magic or fmcb

im gonna have to look into this usb stuff as i have never tried it before

ps. im guessing u actually run the crazy taxi ISO off usb, as opposed to extracting the actual files to the usb.. i like the sound of this.. time to read up on it i think (..dont know where to start.. lol)

Not the ISO itself, you use something like USBUtil to make the game into files that are readable by Open PS2 Loader or USBAdvance.

Not as of yet, at least not 100%.
There is a PSX Emulator for the PS2 in the works, when it's done it is supposed to play PSX isos from USB, HDD, DVD (multiple ISOs on one DVD) and over a Network.

Hey Doc, thanks a million, i just managed to get ntsc crazy taxi onto a 1GB usb stick i had lying around and then played it with my pal slim (70004) PS2! no disks needed in the PS2 at all, just the free mcboot memory card and the usb stick.

i didn't notice any slowdown in the game when playing it. i suppose if i was going to be picky i could say overall it loads the game a bit slower than normal.. but then again im from the C64/Speccy era so i dont really give a sh1t about loading times ^_^

wow, now im wondering what maximum size usb stick i can use on my slim ps2, and if i can pretty much get half of my cd/dvd collection on there. mind you, i wonder what compatibility is like overall. guess im gonna have to look into that before gettin carried away haha.

ok anyway, thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!

ps. if i can bug u for one more question, any idea which is better, Open PS2 Loader or USBAdvance? or are they pretty much no different? (i used open ps2 loader and usbutil2 to get all this stuff working)
