Hey there folks. Picked up a ps2 slim at the goodwill today which had a game in the drive (legit game) when I loaded it in under the Playstation logo it said infinity 1.83. Now understand I am not a ps2 guy, I have a ps3 I owned a ps1 and i kind of skipped the ps2 (tried xbox) during the last gen.

Anyway. I tried to look it up and all all that and I was able to get into the menu for the chip so it seems to work. It is just a bit wonky for me as I don't really know much about it and when I tried to research it all I saw was people having problems with upgrading the firmware due to knock off chips. I attempted to burn an iso using imgburn but when I put it in the tray it says to put a legit disk in (can't recall the actual wording but I am sure you know the screen). Anyway I had a few questions and I hope that you can help me out here. I attempted to google a bunch of this stuff but I all I came across was outdated forums and sites that no longer exist.

1) Is 1.83 good enough or should I consider updating the firmware?
2) Is 1.83 the highest firmware I can go with the chip that is in it (since I dunno what chip is in it you might just have the guess at this one)?
3) Should I go with a soft mod of some sort instead or can I use it to run backups off of a usb drive somehow?
4) Is there something that needs to be done to the iso for it to work with the mod?
5) What is my best course of action with this particular unit as I really want to investigate the first party titles I missed out on and the ps2 exclusives (ie. I really want to check out Trapt as I loved deception III on ps1)?
6) What all do I need to know about this infinity 1.83 and really what should I do get the very best for this new addition to my man cave?

Thanks in advance you all rule.
