    Default ESR Black Screen Help

I've had to rehack a memory card after one of mine broke, I used the same tutorial I used before - The noobie guide on Skapps (The one with the OO7 Agent underfire hack)
and I've installed FreeMCboot and ESR using the newb package. Now it seems that all is well like before but No matter what Game I've patched then burned all of them give a black screen after I click X on the White coloured ESR page (Which I never had before on the old broken one so I was confused about it at first) and the disk is still spinning but it never goes past the white screen. Have I done something wrong somewhere in the line? I did everything I did last time just with an updated newb package I suppose which explains the newer white screen esr page thing.

All the Disks I used were Verbatim DVD-R and I burned all different speeds with no results.

Same thing happens on a different memory card and a slim PS2

The games I've tried are. Ultimate Spiderman - FFXII Zodiac with translation patch - my Own Backed up Resident Evil Outbreak #1 and a few others.

Are you saying that the discs wont play with two different memory cards with FMCB on them and two different PS2s? Are you formatting the memory cards before installing FMCB? Try running ESR from a USB stick and see if it works. Maybe there's a problem with your computer's DVD burner.

Yes two different cards with two different PS2s, Yes formatting before. Will try that but I doubt it'll do anything. And I'm not sure about that, its the same PC that I used last time and it burns everything from dvds and Wii games fine.

I tryed formatting it again and installing it again but with the Non Gui version of ESR and still nothing. This time I tried FFX which went to a long black screen to a Pink then blue bordered black screen to again a normal Black screen.

Just tried Ultimate spiderman again and it did do the multicoloured flicker thing then goes into a Black screen with "Loading...." at the bottom

If the cards are a generic brand then ESR might not run well off them and might run better off a USB stick.

    They are official Sony ones.

Try cleaning the laser in your computer and PS2. You might also try burning with Alcohol 120%, I've personally had better results with it than IMGBurn.

I really don't want to open up my PS2. Even though its good to clean them once and a while, I doubt its the reason for it not working properly as the Slim which is in mint condition also wont work. I'm really stumped. I've done nothing different since i did it the last time.

Are you using burned backups that had previously worked well?

No I don't have acess to where they are right now as they are at my mothers house. I will try them when I can. But I have no clue what I may have done different or if something has gone wrong somehow. I know that the first game I burned this time gave me an error about not being the right region but after a reset I never got that message again with that disk... I'm really clueless.

I think it probably has to be a problem with your DVD burner, you should get one of those laser cleaning discs and see if it helps. Or if possible burn a disc on another computer.
